redesign settings and authentication dialog
We need to modify the settings of the Network Share Mounter to make them much more user-friendly and clear. First, I would like to gather the points that can or should be configured:
General Settings
- Start NSM at login (configurable display)
- Check for updates (configurable display)
- Send diagnostic data to Sentry (configurable display)
- If any of the above values are configured via MDM, they should:
- Be displayed but not editable
- Not be displayed at all?
- Be set via MDM but editable by the user
Ideas
- The Kerberos Auth Status could be displayed in the settings, not just via the menu icon
Future Possibilities
MDM Configurable
- Support for multiple Kerberos domains, if possible
- Configurable whether a share is authenticated via Kerberos (specify the domain?)
- Should users be able to set usernames for MDM-configured shares? (#132 regarding the difference between local and network users at our organization)
- Possibility of specific passwords per share (#157)
- On password changes for shares, the system should ask for the passwords instead of just showing an error message, whether it's Kerberos or specific passwords (#133)
- In #139, it might be suggested that mount points per share can be specified. This seems quite complex to implement but could indeed be useful?
- Are there such things as SSO authenticated shares? If yes - take into consideration?
Local
- Kerberos should also be configurable and usable locally
- For shares, username/password should be storable, not just via the system dialog
- Shares should also support Kerberos
