Preferences view can still be irresponsible

After a certain period, usually after the Mac has been put to sleep and then awakened, and one opens the preference view, it works, but it cannot be closed.
When you click the red window-close button of the window decoration, it briefly appears as if the window shifts slightly (or enlarges?). Then, nothing in the window can be clicked anymore, and it cannot be closed either. However, the app itself continues to work. Reopening the window does not help; clicking on the menu item simply displays the unresponsive window.
